Regrettably I'm unable to go back in and alter the article as most of my blogs are of such vast size that I've had VERY bad experiences with 'Blogger' in the past when doing edits after the fact, with much of the article on numerous occasions simply not re-saving and vanishing into cyberspace, so unfortunately, I'm not going to risk fiddling with this one and potentially lose so much hard work that's gone into it. I do apologise if that's a problem.

PeterNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-57934527384561393272012-07-12T07:37:39.590+12:002012-07-12T07:37:39.590+12:00I think you're doing interesting and important...I think you're doing interesting and important work here. Yes, i noticed that SMA had gone through a disasterous change recently, and is now some crazy sort of Facebook styled nonsense deal as opposed to the good old solid forum which kept many of us informed and entertained for years. Bad decision SMA. The regular, highly active readers all seemed to have "abandoned ship" months ago on the matte forum there, which is why I more or less quit.

Matthew's oral history should be out soon. I'm just awaiting on some material from Michelle Moen who has graciously offered to write her own foreword for Matt. There are plenty of utterly fascinating stories, anecdotes and facts courtesy of Matt which may be of little interest to the average casual reader, but will be "pure gold" to fellows like you, Domingo, Steven and a few hardcore matte historians who follow the blog.

All the best my friend

PeterNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-62029350621700543652012-07-06T00:56:22.826+12:002012-07-06T00:56:22.826+12:00Hi Pete,

I agree getting this wonderful, bygone era of movie magic down for history is a worthy job, and no one better than *you* to do it, Pete!

I'm surprised that Jim didn't mention (and you didn't ask) about his work on the classic '60s show The Outer Limits while Jim was at Project Unlimited. He's quoted several times in The Outer Limits Official Companion book (Schow, Frentzen, 1986). There's one very memorable episode with stop-motion aliens, The Zanti Misfits, although the book says they were animated by Al Hamm. Jim is indicated as the animator for a less remarkable episode, Counterweight. Would be interesting for us fans of that cult series to know what other work Jim did on the show.

Again, thanks for a great post, and I hope you're not gone too long!NorthernRailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07850512306705580663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-11599615506002785442012-05-31T20:40:55.034+12:002012-05-31T20:40:55.034+12:00Thank you for this fantastic interview Pete !Thank you for this fantastic interview Pete !747bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05140039310614748092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-86261914027167770072012-05-25T10:00:24.085+12:002012-05-25T10:00:24.085+12:00Wow thank you so much for all the work that you pu...Wow thank you so much for all the work that you put into this blog - it is fantastic!

As an animation student and aspiring illustrator, the work of these artists is so inspirational - and we take for granted their incredible skill and abilities, especially in an age that is turning digital - and in a generation that expects things instantaniously and doesn't necessarily appreciate the work that goes into the production of their entertainment. :)

Thanks for taking the time to catalogue these awesome unsung heroes of film!
~HannahHannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13598852364875445876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-44897427163068064382012-05-15T22:41:34.872+12:002012-05-15T22:41:34.872+12:00Peter,

I too have professional blow ups printed and bound for me of several hundred great matte images which have appeared on my site over the years. They make great coffee table "books" to feed my own pathological obsession. Books 'as we known them' may vanish completely in years to come, which makes me weep as I cannot get my head around the twitter/text message-sms/cel phone/facebook modus operandi in any shape or form. I'm a dinosaur according to my adult kids (and and old stop motion one at that...not a CG beast!)

I just love prowling through old 2nd hand bookshops.... there's that smell and sense of something literate which doesn't occur with a shiny CD in a plastic case.
