Matte painting is discussed and Harrison Ellenshaw is featured quite often. The first 2-3 episodes focus on ILM through their "analog" period while the other episodes discuss the transition phase to digital. It's incredibly well done, easy enough for the layman to understand but featuring a ton of behind the scenes footage as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-46797179969171323062022-06-02T16:15:07.492+12:002022-06-02T16:15:07.492+12:00Hi David,

You can't hang a digital matte painting on the wall... just a print-out, and that's not terribly interesting.

PeteNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-32566277278350767792022-06-02T16:07:55.056+12:002022-06-02T16:07:55.056+12:00Thanks for the clarification. I never fail to learn when I read your work, and I must say, I don't know if digital matte paintings have ever really matched the magic of traditional ones. Oh, and Death Becomes Her was indeed nominated for, and won, the Oscar for Best VFX (shared with Amalgamated Dynamics)! I think it was up against Batman Returns and Alien 3.DCnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-60642992646873883562022-06-01T16:38:04.451+12:002022-06-01T16:38:04.451+12:00I do appreciate your feedback and obvious enjoymen...I do appreciate your feedback and obvious enjoyment of this work.

PeteNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-80294324198157793052022-06-01T16:34:36.859+12:002022-06-01T16:34:36.859+12:00Hi William...
