You won´t be disappointed, I promise. Also Your professional VFX breakdown would be appreciated.
Greetings from the Czech Republic.

You can purchase some of these movies on blu ray (others are available only on DVD) here:
https://shop.karelzemanmuseum.com/karel-zeman/

Bohuslav Hirsch (visual effects compositor and VFX & animation fanatic)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-81975952321458422312020-10-05T18:02:35.398+13:002020-10-05T18:02:35.398+13:00Gidday Canberra Pete
Thanks so much for that bit ...Gidday Canberra Pete

Thanks so much for that bit of positive feedback. I always appreciate it.

So glad to see that you also love Hitchcock's work, and yes, have now discovered YOUNG AND INNOCENT. To my mind his best films were from the late 30's through the mid 1940's, though I can only count 3 or 4 films in his whole catalogue that were total 'duds' (UNDER CAPRICORN being one ... and oddly set in Aussie, though a largely soundstage bound, matte painted 'Lucky Country').

Again, I appreciate your remarks and I'm always happy that someone other than myself actually reads or enjoys my site.

All the best from 'Across the Ditch'

PeteNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-51355912339111547072020-10-02T17:41:56.475+13:002020-10-02T17:41:56.475+13:00Thanks Pete, for again broadening my film horizons...Thanks Pete, for again broadening my film horizons. I grew up enjoying many of the same films that you have highlighted over the years - but I do have gaps. While I know most of Hitchcock’s U.S. films pretty well, his English films have always eluded me. Your section on "Young and Innocent" hooked me sufficiently to order a Blu-ray from the U.K. and wow, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Good to see Hitch was doing cameos in his early works. The model work in the train sequence was outstanding considering when the film was made and yes, I was blown away by the long crane/boom shot in the ballroom! The whole restaurant, foyer and ballroom had to be a studio set built to accommodate the camera move. So smooth and great focus pull, especially if compared to many lesser attempts in Hollywood in the 30’s.

Hitchcock really loved giving young blondes a hard time and this is as good an example as any (my favorites are "North By Northwest" and "Dial M for Murder". Oh - and "Rear Window" and… I could go on…)

Thanks again Pete - your site is an absolute treasure chest!

Canberra Pete :-)Plainswellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15685135191711656093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-20376645658289896392020-09-17T18:41:49.489+12:002020-09-17T18:41:49.489+12:00Great examples of signage and railways.Great examples of signage and railways.Jeff Cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01547635742129310086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-8381669636863888972020-08-07T01:01:03.845+12:002020-08-07T01:01:03.845+12:00Well, thank you for saying that.
