I first saw "Forbidden Planet" as a teenager when the BBC broadcast it in 1976, and I was utterly gobsmacked. It remains one of my favourite films and knowing how they did it doesn't detract one bit from what it is. Is it okay if I copy a couple of the matte examples you have, and credit your website with a link on my own blog? I've tried taking photographs of DVD images and they are full of reflections.Conradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10595423302875158404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-82912044138733001482019-01-14T17:54:21.471+13:002019-01-14T17:54:21.471+13:00A Arnold Gillespie was my grandfather. I've only found one little mistake in the article: The name of one of the matte artists of this film is Henri Hillinck, not Hillinick. And by the way: I'm not sure that you're on the right track with your pet theory about the connection of FP with the Duck Dodgers animation film. In my eyes there are none.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16490032908592873395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-42887809822883002452015-04-21T12:11:27.573+12:002015-04-21T12:11:27.573+12:00Hi John

This was my favourite film in the 60's 70's but unfortunately I only saw it as a 'cut up' version on weekend afternoon television.
