Peter was also a skilled backing artist between matte jobs so I had always assumed he just did 'backings' for that film.

PeteNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-72747413759978063032017-02-20T10:30:34.287+13:002017-02-20T10:30:34.287+13:00Years ago someone online showcased the matte paint...Years ago someone online showcased the matte paintings for The Blue Max. The gold & violet hues in the Caple & Pangrazio samples especially got me looking back at Maxfield Parrish.
"Apologies if this has already featured in this post but I tend to get a bit lost with all of this material." The view-point is looking south.I was there in 1974 and have a picture taken from almost the same spot. The view from this location has to be one of the finest in America.I never forgot it and often think of the film and its many beautiful images.Although far too long (for a single film)it should have been released in two parts, which would have given it a better chance to succeed and find an audience. Its a very underrated film, that should be far better known than it is today. Many thanks for the great posts, which must take forever to research and write. Its very much appreciated.

Burnaby Bob Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-60901182449102864352017-02-10T11:06:30.320+13:002017-02-10T11:06:30.320+13:00Hello Pete

Yes, I did forget that Culley film and a few others too such as Harrison Ellenshaw's Mos Eisley matte as well.
It can be quite difficult assembling these blog topics. I go through each of my folders (such as 'Warner Bros' for example) and hope that quickly scrolling down the individual film title folders I can remember that a specific film has a useful matte shot to use. I have a fairly good memory for these things though you can be sure that some films get missed out or overlooked.

PeteNZPetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13863364769084676156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7063592677187148799.post-43039068140737218302017-02-08T12:10:29.624+13:002017-02-08T12:10:29.624+13:00Extraordinary post again.
